The 40 Days for Life closing rally takes place on Sunday November 1st. Meet at the vigil site, across from 65 Bank St. at 7:00 pm. Join us for the closing remarks: about half an hour of speeches (so far we have Sarah Sonne, 4 My Canada; Doris Gagnon, sidewalk counselling;  Stan Siok, English Catholic church coordinator; Guy Dacquay, French Sector)) This will be followed by a candlelight procession to St. George's Anglican Church (152 Metcalfe St.) for closing prayer service including hymns led by Michael Trolly. For information call 613-729- 0379. Michael Trolly is a Seminarian of the Anglican Catholic Church of Canada (Traditional Anglican Communion) and a gifted musician. Doris Gagnon is in charge of Sidewalk Counselling with our Campaign.

If people park and walk to Bank Street, it might be best if they park somewhere along Gloucester Street. After 6:00 pm, on-street parking is free.  If people park by St. Patrick's Basilica, then they can walk up Gloucester Street after the gathering at St. George's, west towards the basilica.  St. Patrick's Basilica is on Kent St. with Nepean on one side and Gloucester on the other.  Last time some people did not realize that there are only three blocks from one church to the other.

Just a few days left in the Campaign

The final push: there are still plenty of empty slots left (click on Vigil Calendar). All that is required is for people to go to the site to pray. No witness other than our presence is expected. While you can show up without signing up, if you find you have some free time, it is good to register in advance, so others will know when they are most needed. If you can't go, your prayers are welcome. For more info or to sign up, go to http://www.40daysforlife.com/ottawa/, or call Campaign Life Coalition: 613-729-0379

HALLOWEEN: Saturday is Halloween and the final full day of the Campaign. Typically on that night we can expect some nasty individuals to attempt to disrupt the vigil. The most critical times are from 9 pm to 3 am as people leave the bars near Bank Street. It would be wise to have a massive presence at the vigil site during those hours to deter any interruptions of our vigil. Hence if you can be free during those hours, please register so we’ll have an overwhelming presence the last night of the campaign.

As the Archbishop Prendergast mentioned in his Mid-Point Rally homily "we are either helping to build a culture of death, or co-operating with the culture of death." By standing in front of the abortion mill, we are witnessing to the truth as to what is going on inside...read powerful testimonial by Frances Wilkinson.

Articles by other notable converts to Catholicism on the subject:

Why go to Mass?

  • "Why do we have to go to Mass?" is one of the most frequently asked questions that students address to their religion teachers, and recently I received an email from a former student asking for an article that he could share with his friends that answers that very question. To read more, click HERE.
  • 8 Reasons to go to Mass. Mass is boring." "I don't get anything out of Mass — why should I go?" "Why can't I just pray alone?" These are common feelings, especially among young people but among many adults as well. How should we respond? …Click HERE.
  • Understanding the Mass teaching.  The Mass is the source and summit of Christian life. In it, Christ makes available powerful graces to souls who respond adequately to His invitation by seeking a deeper union with Him. Unfortunately, many of us who go to Mass are not suitably disposed and are not conscious of the tremendous and unfathomable privilege which is present before us at each Eucharist. Hence, we often miss the boat as far as entering into a profound union with God and thereby experiencing spiritual growth within us. In order to help us obtain a deeper understanding of the Mass, Fr. Richard explains the Eucharistic rituals in the Understanding the Mass (mp3)

Praying the Hail Mary

Catholics sometimes come across slightly defensive, almost embarrassed, about Mary...click on:  PRAYING THE 'HAIL MARY' LIKE NEVER BEFORE

Prayer Intention

We invite you to join us in a Rosary Novena starting November 7th to pray that Bill C-384 (legalization of euthanasia and assisted suicide in Canada) will be defeated. The rosary is a very powerful weapon given to us by Our Lady and has been very successful over the years in defeating the enemy when all else fails. It must be remembered that we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness….. Ephesians 6:12.

Let us stand on guard for Canada ay, pray, pray as Our Lady asked at Medjugore.

God Bless!

Christopher West Interviews on Theology of the Body

George Weigel has described Theology of the Body as "one of the boldest reconfigurations of Catholic theology in centuries." He goes on to say it is a "kind of theological time bomb set to go off with dramatic consequences, sometime in the third millennium of the Church."

Archbishop Chaput said that Christopher West’s keen grasp of John Paul II’s Theology of the Body and his ability to make it accessible to others is changing lives, strengthening marriages, and renewing people’s faith in the Church across the country and internationally. He is on the front lines of the new evangelization and his message should be heard by all.

On October 16th – 17th, Christopher West was in Toronto to give a conference on the Theology of the Body (TOB). The day before the conference, he was a guest on the Michael Coren Show. A lot of us missed this terrific show. Fortunately the CTS network allows for online viewing of previous issues. Here’s the link:

 http://www.ctstv.com/ontario/player.php?ctsvidID=17089&show=Michael%20Coren%20Show

Some key statements from this must see video with a lot of “frank talk”:

  • Contraception was not invented (mostly by men) to prevent pregnancy.
  • Contraception turned the sex act into an animalistic act which had terrible disorienting effects on society.
  • Contraceptive technologies have turned women into nothing but call girls to be readily available for meaningless sex (Germaine Greer).
  • All our sexual acts are geared towards pleasure at the expense of other people.
  • If a child results, I may be bitter, or I may even kill the child: lust leads to death sex…

Hence there is a clear link between contraception and abortion.

While in Toronto, Christopher West gave some very informative interviews with LifeSiteNews:

Theology of the Body and Humanae Vitae by Thomas D. Williams, L.C.

TOB is the result of a five-year catechetical series that the John Paul II began shortly after his election. What was the Holy Father’s motivating factor in making TOB the 1st priority of his pontificate?

PepsiCo raises ante once again

PepsiCo isn't content with pushing homosexuality inside its own company. It feels compelled to use corporate leaders in pressing other companies to accept it as well.

In the October 2009 Out and Equal Workplace conference, PepsiCo's vice-president and CIO led a seminar to teach employees in the art of "leveraging strong sponsor or leader relationships" within companies to embrace homosexuality. The seminar was entitled "Use 'em or lose 'em."

At the same event, a manager of PepsiCo's corporate Contributions and Foundation department served as a judge in the Out & Equal's "Outie Awards." The awards are given in celebration and recognition to companies and employees who advance homosexual causes in the workplace.

PepsiCo also donated money to the event as an "Advocate" sponsorship and placed a half-page ad in the event program.

TAKE ACTION

Sign the Boycott Pepsi Pledge. After signing the pledge, please call Pepsi (914-253-2000 or 1-800-433-2652) and tell the company you will boycott its products until it stops promoting the homosexual agenda.
Call the Pepsi bottler nearest you and ask it to stop supporting the homosexual agenda.
• Pepsi’s products include Pepsi soft drinks, Frito-Lay chips and snacks (800-352-4477), Quaker Oats (800-367-6287), Tropicana (800-237-7799) and Gatorade (800-884-2867).
Print the Boycott Pepsi Pledge and distribute it.
