Dear Friends,
Some major injustices are happening in Canada
that requires your attention, and action.
A Pro-life Club in BC was recently denied its
club status. In Ottawa, the student society, CUSA, at Carleton
University, is going to be voting next week on whether to "affirm
a woman's right to choose" and in doing so whether to ban
pro-life activity on CUSA-controlled areas.
What follows below is a summary of each situation
and recommended steps for response from you. As Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr., once said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice
everywhere" and "Whatever affects one directly affects
all indirectly."
**UBC OKANAGAN**
The summary of the situation is available, in
brief form, here:

Action Plan:
There are addresses at that link for whom to send
letters to. I have made your job really easy by attaching sample
letters. I encourage you to put things in your own words, but
if time is an issue, at least please sign your name to the one
attached :)

**CARLETON UNIVERSITY**
On October 30 my colleague Jojo Ruba debated two
pro-abortion representatives at Carleton University: Tracy Davidson
the director of Planned Parenthood Ottawa, and Jeannette Doucet
from Canadians for Choice.
A few weeks later, on November 23, the campus
newspaper, "The Charlatan," reported the following,
"[Katy] McIntyre [CUSA, student society,
Vice President (student services)] said she received complaints
after Lifeline organized an academic debate on whether or not
elective abortion should be made illegal.
"'[These women] were upset the debate was
happening on campus in a space that they thought they were safe
and protected, and that respected their rights and freedoms,'
said McIntyre."
So what did McIntyre do about that? She moved
a motion, on behalf of the Womyn’s Centre, to amend the campus
discrimination policy to state that “no CUSA resources, space,
recognition or funding be allocated for anti-choice purposes.”
CUSA's motion will be formally debated at their
next council meeting December 5. During which council will vote
to pass the motion.
Action Plan:
Send a letter (sample attached) to Carleton University's
President.
Send separate emails (you can use the same content
from the attached letter) to the following:

Yes, this will take a bit of time, but its time
worth taking -- babies can only be saved if we have free speech
rights to exercise to speak out for them.
Please let me know (email address provided at
top of article) when you've sent your letters/emails so I can
keep a tally,
