Early in December, the Canadian Parliament will vote on a motion pertaining to the definition of marriage. This motion is very important because if it is adopted, it will allow the Parliament to study, for the first time, the rights and interests of children in the definition of marriage.

Au début décembre, le parlement canadien votera sur une motion sur le mariage. Cette motion sera très importante car si elle est adoptée, les droits et les intérêts des enfants dans la définition du mariage pourront être étudiés pour la première fois.

Diane Naipaul

Dear friends in Christ,

Are you, or someone you know of, in need of a miracle? Here are some prayers, which might help.

In Christ,
Diane - forthegloryofgod-ottawa@rogers.com

1. Pray for his Canonization.

Only God can bring about the canonization of a saint. As St. Anthony of Padua once put it, “Saints are like the stars: they shine when God wants them to!” Every newly canonized saint is a great gift of grace to the Catholic Church and the world. But God wants us to ask Him for this grace. This is why all the prayers petitioning Almighty God to raise His servant, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, to the honour of the altar become a powerful spiritual force that will move the Heart of God to grant the fervent request of His People.

When you pray, you may wish to use the following prayer written by Vice-Postulator, Fr. Andrew Apostoli, C.F.R., and approved by sponsoring bishop, Bishop Daniel Jenky, C.S.C.:

Prayer for the Canonization of the Servant of God
Heavenly Father, source of all holiness, You raise up within the Church in every age men and women who serve with heroic love and dedication. You have blessed Your Church through the life and ministry of Your faithful servant, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. He has written and spoken well of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, and was a true instrument of the Holy Spirit in touching the hearts of countless people.

If it be according to Your Will, for the honour and glory of the Most Holy Trinity and for the salvation of souls, we ask You to move the Church to proclaim him a saint. We ask this prayer through Christ, our Lord. Amen

2. Pray for Favours through his Intercession

When God wants to glorify one of His servants for Sainthood, He grants many favours through his or her intercession. These favours may be in the form of physical or emotional healings, resolving of family difficulties, spiritual conversions or help in special needs such as finding a job or buying a home. Again, we have to ask God in prayer for these favours through the Archbishop's intercession. We may want to use the prayer below:

Prayer to Obtain a Favour
Through the Intercession of the Servant of God
Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

Eternal Father, You alone grant us every blessing in Heaven and on earth, through the redemptive mission of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, and by the working of the Holy Spirit. If it were according to Your Will, glorify Your servant, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, by granting the favour I now request through his prayerful intercession (mention your request). I make this prayer confidently through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

3. Notify the Archbishop Sheen Foundation about Favors Received.
If someone feels that he or she has received a favor, big or small, through the late Archbishop's intercession, please notify the Archbishop Sheen Foundation at the above address so that a complete record of these favors received may be kept.

Diane Naipaul

Fellow prayer warrior, Lleander, has provided information about a current Novena to the Blessed Mother (details below).

Nov. 29th, we should begin a novena to honour and prepare ourselves for Our Lady's Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception December 8th. 4 days later, it is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas, Mother and Protectress of the Unborn.

As many of us as possible should pray the novena now for
~ an end to abortion, via strengthening ourselves and others against the sins of the flesh
~ respecting and obeying the 5th, 6th and 9th commandment (Thou shall not kill, Thou shall not commit adultery, Thou shall not covet thy neighbour’s wife or spouse);
~ a prayer of protection for the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman and the sanctity of the family as the basic unit of society;
~ the restoration of the role of sex as the Almighty's tool for procreation between married couples and an openness to acceptance for the gift of life;
~ rejection of artificial birth control, emergency contraceptives, invitro fertilization, embryonic stem cell research, cloning and designer babies as they all lead to closure in attitude towards the Gift of Life and the recognition of God as the only author of Life.

Here is the suggested Novena websites for the novena. ...
Our Lady needs to lead us in this warfare against abortion and all conceived life as she, the pregnant protector of the seed (Christ) is the chosen weapon to crush the serpent.

November 30 – Two days later, Debbie Duval is blowing out birthday candles.

Handed out many congratulations, but also asked: although virtual ministry has a list of 274 addresses, only 38 visited the site last week and only one person asked for some of the suggested material..... hmmmmm

See you next Friday!
