Hi Jim,
A few days ago I sent out an email on "Holiday
Shopping" and a few of our members took offence that I
used the term "Holiday" instead of "Christmas".
I hope my "recovery" [Dear Jim:
The term " Holiday " in the recent email was meant
to be a catch-all phrase to include the number of holidays coming
up, such as Thanksgiving, St. Nicholas Day, Advent. . .and yes.
. .CHRISTMAS! For those of you who took the word "holiday"
to somehow mean an exclusion of Christ's Mass, I can understand
such an interpretation when placed in the mainstream, post-modern
media. However, rest assured that as you most likely know, Our
Lord Jesus Christ is always at the center of our lives and in
everything we do at ProLifeSearch.com. Yours in Life and in
Christ, Jack Manhire] email clarified that I was by no means
intending to be "politically correct" (those of you
who know me personally would chuckle at me and "politically
correct" even being mentioned in the same sentence).
Anyway, the incident made Joe and I think about
the commercialization of the holidays and how we could help
our members who are seeking a deeper spiritual connection prepare
for Our Lord's birth. After all, that's what Advent is all about.
Well it just so happens that Joe and I have
been preparing a collection of the Essential Classics of Catholic
Spirituality for the past 9 months. It includes the heavy-hitters
of the Faith, like St. Augustine, Thomas a Kempis, St. Teresa
of Avila, and many others. These are the foundations that every
follower of Christ should read again and again . . . and again.
We'd like to make the Essential Classics of Catholic Spirituality
available exclusively to our registered ProLifeSearch members
before the Advent season begins.
We also want to make it an extra Merry Christmas
for our charities and the people they help, so we're trying
to raise as much money as possible in the shortest period of
time so we can write a big donation check to EVERY SINGLE ONE
of our approved pro-life charities. We're counting on you to
help us meet that goal.
Now Advent's not too far away, so Joe and I
have to scramble to get this finished. We have almost all of
it done. We just need to put those ever so important finishing
touches on it. It also means the "release date" is
just around the corner. We plan on launching the week before
Thanksgiving break (November 13 - 17) so you'll have plenty
of time to get a head start for Advent.
In the next few days I'll be setting up a special
site to keep everyone updated on our progress with the Essential
Classics of Catholic Spirituality. So please stay tuned.
Hopefully, I will have my hands on a "beta"
version in the next couple of days. Then, after we give it a
final "once over", we will get our formatting experts
to start working on it.
Yours in Christ,
Jack
