Hello folks! Our previous Webmaster, Todd Winn, was considering us having a “blog” spot. What is blogging you ask! Well I am not very technical, but it is a place where we will be able to share our opinions. This week, Tim has set one up, and I would encourage you to go visit and try it out. Maybe you can make a comment about electric guitars / superman, or anything at all. I would ask you to have patience with us as we get this started up. One more thing, this can only be a success with your participation.

Last week – there was a little glitch between the editor and the Webmaster. So if you came to VM early, you may have missed the attachment in the Diane Naipaul article. It was corrected, but if you missed it, remember to go back to archives / VM346 and see the article about praises to the trinity.

I read a communique from the Vatican that touched a subject dear to my heart: sacred music. The pope, responding to a concert performed in his honour, praised performers of sacred music, especially sacred polyphony, and called for its propagation. Taking the pope's lead, I have a challenge for you: if you have never heard sacred polyphony before, it is, quite frankly, the music of heaven. I strongly urge you to find a CD of sacred polyphony, particularly the 'Missae Papae Marcelli' by Giovanni da Palestrina (8$ on the Naxos label at CD Warehouse, or free at the library), and listen to it where you won't be distracted. If you are a trained singer, or have a strong natural gift for singing, and fall in love with this music, I would like to hear from you. If you know someone like that who might be interested in forming a schola to sing this kind of music locally, tell me.
