Feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus
World day of prayer for priests

Please see Graham's Corner for link to website providing information on the English Catholic writer G.K. Chesterton, including a page featuring quotes from Chesterton, organized in a collection of general categories.

Our Archbishop agreed to stay on one more year … Are you praying for his replacement? Let’s all pray that God’s Will be done and that Mother Mary’s right bishop will shepherd us here!

Tim’s TidBits will have a link to a story about Jesus & Superman, and we may set up a blog next week to encourage you VMers to chat about it.

Do we have a Lighterside? You will only know if you go check!

Did you see the story in last Sunday’s Ottawa Sun? Donna Casey wrote it, and we have it here for those of you that missed it. If it is no longer available there – then check out this word document. (8 pages)

Tuxedo Cats FREE TO A GOOD HOME

Putts, the mother had been abandoned at the Veterinary’s door step pregnant, gave birth to three stillborn kittens and three days later her fourth
(Boots) was born! The Veterinary allowed me to take them when Boots was four weeks old. They are strictly indoor cats as they are both declawed. They are very gentle, calm cats with talkative personalities. They are not used to young children and will simply hide and stay out of sight. The Vet guessed the mother’s age to be approximately 3 when I adopted them eight years ago. They are healthy and both are fixed.

I have to part with them due to allergies within the family and the arrival of my first granddaughter. As you can see from the picture, these two are inseparable. I do want them to go to a loving home and will give all the cat paraphernalia with them.

Dear friends in Christ,

I awoke this morning with a 'feeling', an urging really, that I should write this message as it might be needed by someone today (Friday June 16).

Are you feeling burdened, as if, like the three Israelites, you too are in the 'fiery furnace? Then perhaps you should join them in giving praise to God. God loves the praises of His people and 'the other one' flees when he hears them. You will find the praises in Daniel 3: 26-45. The praises of Daniel can be found in the same chapter, verses 52-90. Remember, God does hear our prayers, but sometimes He answers them in His time, not ours. He is the only one who can 'see around the corner'.

I have recently started a daily Holy Hour Novena (nine days in petition, nine days in thanksgiving) where I usually pray the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet. This Chaplet is very powerful when prayed for the sick and dying in front of the Blessed Sacrament. I began this Novena after I read an article in a recent edition of 'The Word Among Us'. I figured that if it worked for the man in the story, it could work for me too. Also, Father Mathew Naickomparambil from Potta, India, told us that when we are praying for our loved ones, or ourselves we should pray for everyone in the world with the same problem.

I am attaching a list of praises to the Blessed Trinity, which can be used at prayer time or during Adoration. God bless you, and I pray that the person for whom this is meant will find peace and blessings in the Lord.

In Christ,
Diane
