COME HOLY SPIRIT

Are you ready? Pentecost!!!!!

Although there are no Tim’s TidBits, he did send along this week’s Lighterside, “A Deck of Cards”

Please see Graham's Corner for a link to a short article by Peter Kreeft entitled "The Living Christ is the Point of it All", as well as a link to other articles available on the "Ignatius Insight" website. Secondly, for links to the text of Pope Benedict's homilies and remarks during his visit to Poland from May 25 to 28, 2006, including the Pope's remarks at Aushwitz.

Our Archbishop agreed to stay on one more year … Are you praying for his replacement? Let’s all pray that God’s Will be done and that Mother Mary’s right bishop will shepherd us here!

If you remember, a few weeks ago http://virtualministry.com/Archives/VMArchive2006/VM340/VM340.htm
we posted a request from Laura, here is an update:

Here's the fundraiser info for Donna Marie Edwards:
You are cordially invited to a Euchre tournament in honour of Donna Marie Edwards, a future sister of the Dominican Nuns of the Perpetual Rosary

Saturday, June 3rd

Laura (ax742@ncf.ca)
Jeff (edwardsjae@care2.com)

You already know that we have been raising money to pay off Donna Marie's debt so she may join the Dominican Nuns of the Perpetual Rosary. A big "Thank You" to all who have contributed so far. Our current goal is to raise $12,000 which is the balance of a debt consolidation loan.

Here's your chance to have fun and make a difference…

Think of this as Donna Marie's stag/shower/wedding/going away party all rolled into one…

Please join us at Our Lady of Fatima Church Hall (153 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road) in Ottawa on Saturday, June 3rd for a euchre tournament at 7:00pm. The cost is only $10 and there is an opportunity for a cash prize!

We will be having a dessert potluck, a silent auction, a "50/50" Draw, other board games, (for those who are not euchre players) in addition to hearing Donna Marie's story of her joyful journey.

Mark the date on your calendar...Saturday, June 3rd! Spread the good news and invite your friends/family to a fun event in support of Donna Marie. If you cannot make the evening and would still like to make a financial contribution, you can mail your cheque (payable to Donna Marie Edwards) to:

Donna Marie Edwards
1007 Hooper Street
Ottawa, ON K1Z 6K4

Call us (Jeff at 729-4071 or Laura at 822-3365) or email us (Jeff: edwardsjae@care2.com or Laura: ax742@ncf.ca) if you have any questions.

Donna Marie thanks you and looks forward to seeing you.

God Bless,
Jeff Edwards and Laura Kelly

P.S. Please try to come at the beginning of the evening to join in on the fun

I do have a little news. I'm engaged. I have a bit more information on my website (www.andyland.ca) and Jane, my fiancée has more on her site http://wherestuffhappens.blogspot.com/.

Kim Hanekom

I was wondering if you would be so kind as to post my message on Virtual Ministry. My friend, a practicing Catholic mom, had to leave a bad situation and move into Nepean Housing recently with her two small daughters ages 15 months and five years.

I asked her to send me her "wish" list of items she might need/want. They are: phone, radio, mirror(s), clock, book shelf, pantry-type cupboard, microwave, office chair, small table (suitable for crafts), dresser, lamp(s), curtains, assistance putting curtains up, outdoor baby swing, bed frames: single, double and queen (have mattresses), bed side table, summer clothes for oldest daughter (size 8-10)

If anyone has an item or two listed above that they don't need anymore and would like to pass it along to this family, please contact me, Kim Hanekom by e-mail at Kim.Hanekom@gmail.com. I am a parishioner of St. Mary's Parish in Ottawa and have been for about eight years now.

Thanks in advance and God bless you.

Editor’s note: Thank you Kim for once again answering HIS call, and OF COURSE this is to be posted in VM. FOLKS! Come on and let’s be CHURCH. Remember to visit our http://virtualministry.com/contrib_pages/Testimonials.htm page to read of past successes, and lets overwhelm this friend of Kim’s.

Greetings all,

In order to help recover some of the costs of the conference, I am offering a special promotional offer on the Humanae Vitae Conference CDs and DVDs.

For the month of June only, I will ship you your choice of the Conference CD or DVD packages for a $99 donation. You can address two of the most pressing issues of our times with one shot: contraception and John's dwindling bank account :)

If anyone is interested, please email me at life@therosarium.ca. Be sure to mention the "Virtual Ministry" offer.

Regards,

John Pacheco
The Rosarium

Editor’s note … Folks – once again we sit back and watch one of our extended family practice what he preaches. John doesn’t just talk about it – HE DOES IT. Forward this week’s message to many others. They may not be aware of this special offer.

The head of the Family Coalition Party (Ontario's ONLY pro-life, pro-family political party) will be in town on Monday to present the case to support this party in the next provincial election.

It would be great to have a few people out to his presentation. He will be recruiting candidates for the Ottawa area (ever wanted to go into politics?) and also drumming up support in general.

In the next election, we will face a stark choice between three radically pro-abortion and anti-marriage party leaders (Howard Hampton / Dalton McGuinty / John Tory) It is important that we have some candidates of character, standing for truth.

The Family Coalition party runs candidates in ridings where there are no other pro-life candidates from the mainstream parties. This ensures that those who respect life have someone to vote for.

If you'd like to find out more, here are the details:
Date: June 5, 7PM
Place: St. Ignatius Parish, 518 Donald St.

Birthdays and Anniversaries

Birthdays coming up this week are:
Do you know of one that should have been announced here?

June 3 – How is your memory? Can you name the “Five in 95?” As we all know June is such a big ordination month, remember to fete your favourite priest! Know the date of his anniversary? Last week we missed Fr. Anthony Hannon and our four Companions. However, you can click below (292) and see the photos that you may have missed
June 4 – Jeremy Atkinson turns 19
June 7 – Stefanie Backs joins the ranks of TEEN-ager
June 11 – a couple of our good brothers joined the deaconate … know who? The answer will be here next week!

What was going on in VM – one year ago?

Fr. Lindsay Harrison had provided new editor, Sue Atkinson with a 60-question quiz … go have a look and see how you do

Go back four years ago to read about Bas’ successful recovery – he still drinks Pepsi instead of coke though. I liked Graham’s link to Tolkien:

See you next Friday!
