James 1:17

Please see Graham's Corner for details about an upcoming EWTN program on the state of the institution of marriage in Canada; also for information on special programming to be carried on EWTN on April 1, 2 and 3 in honour of the first anniversary of the passing of Pope John Paul II; and finally for some information about Michael O’Brien being on Ralph Martin’s show.

Newest page! Madeleine Thomson (hey maddy – I cleaned it up!), each week will be putting the John Pacheco page together for us. Watch for John Pacheco’s Place.

Now, go down to the bottom and see what was happening in past VMs.

This week’s Lighterside is from Anne Egan. Cindy Radosevich hasn’t sent along a contribution in quite a while but today you can go Cindy’s Reflections to read about world demographics. Tim needs a rest after his first week of TidBits, so there wont be one, and Dan didn’t send anything for his Keyboard, but read below on his car quest.

If you missed last week’s VM please go back – there were so many articles that I wanted to carry over to this week.

Nazareth Family Retreats

Would you like to have an opportunity to explore Catholic family life in all its beauty (and frailty), in a peaceful setting, with other Catholic families? Then a Nazareth Family Retreat is for you! Based on the teachings of the Catholic Church and the ministry of Posie and (the late) Don McPhee who ran the original family retreats in Combermere in the '80s, a Nazareth Family Retreat supports and encourages Catholic family life. The retreats are held at Dominus Vobiscum Retreat Centre in the Laurentians, about a 3 1/2 hour drive from Ottawa. Daily Mass, separate sharing sessions for parents and children, lots of family time, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a priest "in residence" for the week, a safe and sunny beach, a playground, daily lunch prepared -- all these things combine to create a memorable week for all. There are still several openings for Week One - July 30 - August 5th, for families who have never before attended a Nazareth Family Retreat.

Dan Gutoskie

Hello Friends,

Could I ask you to pray that I find an affordable and worthy "new used car"? My 90' Camry has been a trustworty chariot for getting me from Point A to Point B, but the driver's side door is becoming more than a nuisance by jamming up repeatedly (which isn't cheap to fix - or easy to crawl out of).

Gracias, Dan

Madeleine Thomson San Francisco City Government Calls Catholics 'Hateful, Discriminatory, Insulting, Ignorant'
Top Cardinal is "decidedly unqualified", says resolution
By: John-Henry Westen

SAN FRANCISCO, March 22, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In one of the most startling attacks on the Catholic Church coming from a governmental body in the United States in half a century, the governing body of the city of San Francisco – the Board of Supervisors – voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a non-binding resolution blasting the Catholic Church for its opposition to homosexual adoption.

Dear fellow Catholic,
You are cordially invited to attend St. Patrick's Fallowfield men's breakfast in the spectacular Msgr. Paul Baxter Memorial Centre at 15 Steeple Hill Crescent in Nepean on April 1, 2006. The breakfast promises to be scrumptious and the speaker Father Peter Wood from Toronto, very inspiring. Why not make this part of your Lenten journey this year.

Tickets are only $12.50 for men and $9.50 for youth aged 13 to 20. Please see the attached poster for more details. I would be pleased to set aside a ticket for you at the door, which starts with mass at 8:30 AM.

Please let me know by March 27, 2006 if you would like to attend or contact me should you have any questions about this event. I would greatly appreciate it if you would pass this invitation on to other Catholic men who might be interested in attending.

Vivat Jesus.

Herb Ruiss

hello Vmers
One of our VM family knows a person that is going to be working in Ottawa for a couple of years … Is there anyone out there that may have some space in their home?:

Herb Ruiss [mailto:herb.ruiss@sympatico.ca]

Hi Jim: Just to fill in some gaps.... I live in Brantford, Ontario. I have a two-year contract with CHEO as a Management Consultant.
Since I still own a home and have a mortgage here on my own home, I wish to keep my expenses down...
Budget for housing is $500. per month, all inclusive... I only need one bedroom and access to a kitchen so I may cook during the week.
Since I will be needing the accommodations for a full 24 months, there will be a guarantee of $12,000. income to the landlord.
Since I start on April 3rd, it leaves me little time to find a place. However, the Holy Spirit has been very helpful in the past!
If you need any more details, Jim, don't hesitate to write back.
Thanks for responding to my enquiry,

Phil Stotts

St. Mary's Eucharistic Adoration Chapel, 100 Young Street, is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day, seven days a week. Lent is the perfect opportunity to spend time in adoration and grow in Christ. You may bring your own prayer books, use the books in the chapel, read the bible, pray the rosary, or just sit, relax and enjoy the sweet peace that comes from simply being in the Presence of Jesus.

For further information, please contact Pat Stotts pstotta181@rogers.com
