This week, along with our most regular contributor (Graham’s Corner), Dan’s Keyboard is back with “Charlton Rowed The Boat Ashore” [also he sent along some humour] and Tim’s TidBits will be our newest page. Please see Graham's Corner for information on upcoming guests and topics on EWTN's The World Over program.

MAILING LIST SURVEY … IF YOU READ NO FURTHER TODAY, PLEASE ANSWER OUR MAILING LIST SURVEY! Virtual Ministry started out as an email service each Friday (you can read more about our history by clicking on the “About Us” page above), and continued to email everybody about the weekly updates. Then we decided to ask you if you wanted to be reminded when the webpage was updated. We would like to honour your requests, however our list has been deleted and we need you to spread the word about this and to let us know if you want the weekly reminder. It will be as simple as clicking here if you want to be reminded of the updates to the site (which usually happen every Friday). If you choose not to be reminded – please remember to come back and visit weekly.

Are you aware of the newest feature? Each week – we send you back a year, to see how VM was a year ago. It is right at the bottom, below the birthdays.

Lighterside this week may be Tim’s last contribution – from now on you will find all of his TidBits on the new page … so go read about the “Pack of Wild Dogs kill Croc In Florida”

Nazareth Family Retreats

Would you like to have an opportunity to explore Catholic family life in all its beauty (and frailty), in a peaceful setting, with other Catholic families? Then a Nazareth Family Retreat is for you! Based on the teachings of the Catholic Church and the ministry of Posie and (the late) Don McPhee who ran the original family retreats in Combermere in the '80s, a Nazareth Family Retreat supports and encourages Catholic family life. The retreats are held at Dominus Vobiscum Retreat Centre in the Laurentians, about a 3 1/2 hour drive from Ottawa. Daily Mass, separate sharing sessions for parents and children, lots of family time, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a priest "in residence" for the week, a safe and sunny beach, a playground, daily lunch prepared -- all these things combine to create a memorable week for all. There are still several openings for Week One - July 30 - August 5th, for families who have never before attended a Nazareth Family Retreat.

Fr. John Vandenakker

Greetings.

One of the talks at last month's CC MiniConference in Ottawa was entitled "The Truth About the Da Vinci Code." Fr. Terry Donahue gave an excellent and informative presentation. As you may know, the Da Vinci Code has been made into a major motion picture and is due out in May. It is very anti-Catholic and anti-Christian. Fr. Terry's talk debunks the scurrilous nature of the claims made in this book. He also tells us how we can take advantage of the debate this book/movie has provoked for the purposes of evangelization. If you would like to read and/or print out a copy of Fr. Terry's talk please click on this link to our Companions of the Cross web site:
http://www.companionscross.ca/davincicode/. You will also have the option of downloading the original talk and saving it as an mp3 audio file on your computer. A technological first for the Companions! (Thanks to CC web master Richard Donnelly). More files of talks and homilies will be made available in the near future. Stay tuned!

Another item of interest is an article about Fr. Tim Devine that appeared in the March 7, 2006 issue of The Halifax Herald newspaper. It is entitled:
"God Lights His Path." To view this article click:

God Bless - Fr. John Vandenakker

ZENIT Dear Reader,

The first anniversary of the death of John Paul II is fast approaching.

It has been an unforgettable year for the Church. And, thanks to ZENIT, you have been able to experience it, day after day, as if you were in Rome.

Thanks to ZENIT, for example, you've had, delivered to your inbox, the homily of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger at that memorable funeral Mass in St. Peter's Square.

Thanks to ZENIT, you were kept up to date during the period of the vacant Apostolic See and the conclave that elected Benedict XVI.

Thanks to ZENIT, you were then able to keep up the addresses of the new pontificate, including homilies and the encyclical "God Is Love."

If you felt closer to Rome this year thanks to ZENIT, our work has been worth it.

And to keep that work going, we are now beginning our annual fund-raising campaign.

We find inspiration in Benedict XVI's for Lent, where he quotes Blessed Teresa of Calcutta: "The worst poverty is not to know Christ."

We again ask you to help us so that together we can respond to the challenge presented by the Pope in that message: "We must help others to find God in the merciful face of Christ. Without this perspective, civilization lacks a solid foundation."

For ZENIT to be able to continue to carry out this work, we need our readers worldwide to contribute $1.1 million to this campaign.

ZENIT now publishes in six language editions: Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese and Italian.

The English edition, with its 100,000 e-mail subscribers, is the largest after the Spanish.

In past years, the English edition has contributed the most to ZENIT's support.

We are confident that this year, too, the generosity of ZENIT's English-edition readers will be the key to the success of the campaign. Specifically, we hope to raise $350,000 from our English-edition readers.

In previous years, you have helped us reach these goals. May we count on your support this year?

It is easy to send a donation to ZENIT. Just click on:
http://www.zenit.org/english/donation.html

Your support is crucial for ZENIT.

Let's see what happens this year!

Thanking you in advance, we send our cordial greetings and wish you a good preparation for Holy Week!

St. Mary's Eucharistic Adoration Chapel, 100 Young Street, is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day, seven days a week. Lent is the perfect opportunity to spend time in adoration and grow in Christ. You may bring your own prayer books, use the books in the chapel, read the bible, pray the rosary, or just sit, relax and enjoy the sweet peace that comes from simply being in the Presence of Jesus.

The next one that I am aware of is NEXT Saturday and will get mentioned in next VM, and I wont want to tell the world that he is turning 45!

What was going on in VM – one year ago?
Julie Foran & Frank Gernon had both sent along a link for the Stations of the Cross … it is well worth going back and checking it out again http://virtualministry.com/Archives/VMArchive2005/VM282/VM282.htm

Two years ago we showed ONE OF THE NICEST AND MOST BEAUTIFUL USES OF THE ALPHABET at the very spot where this is written [at the bottom].
