James 1:17

Have you been to any of Tim Novecosky’s pages.  He is doing the Upcoming Events, Prayer Requests, and Links pages.  Thank you for an excellent job Tim!

Please see Graham's Corner for the text of a short article by David Frum that praises Pope Pius XII's efforts to protect European Jews during World War II.

This week’s Lighterside contribution (How Many Christians Does it Take to Change a Light Bulb?) is from Phil Pothier.

This past week, many of you forwarded on, to me, that very old email about the Dr. James Dobson’s plea for “Touched by an Angel”… Please read any of these links: http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_petition_2493.htm ;

Hi everyone!

There's a website that I think you might want to check out. It's about the link between abortion and an increased risk of developing breast cancer.

When a woman goes to have an abortion she is not told that her chance of developing breast cancer goes up 30% if she has the abortion. For women who are already in a high-risk category for breast cancer, having an abortion puts them at an even higher risk! A woman should be fully informed!!

There are lots of great information and suggestions of what to do about making politicians and health care professionals more aware of this issue.  You can even purchase a bumper sticker!

This website is an initiative of LifeCanada, the national educational pro-life organization. They are receiving a lot of flack for doing this website (and a billboard campaign) and could use your prayers.

The site address is www.abortionbreastcancer.ca

Hope you'll check it out!!

God bless you.  Sheila

Ted & Joanne Sabourin

Joanne and I tried this test after receiving this email and sure enough very

little water passed through the lint filter until after it was washed.

Dryer sheets & lint filter

I had a wonderful morning; the heating unit went out on my dryer!

Why does everything seem to fall apart this time of year?

The guy that fixes things went in to the dryer pulled out the lint filter.

It was clean.

We always clean the lint from the filter after every load of clothes.

He told us that he wanted to show us something.

He took the filter over to the sink, ran hot water over it.

Now, the lint filter is made of a mesh material!

I'm sure you know what your dryer's lint filter looks like.

WELL..... The hot water just sat on top of the mesh!!!

It didn't go through it at all!!!

He told us that dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh that's what burns out the heating unit. You can't SEE the film, but it's there.

This is also what causes dryer units to catch fire potentially burn your house down with it!

He said the best way to keep your dryer working for a very long time (& to keep your electric bill lower) is to take that filter out & wash it with hot soapy water & an old toothbrush (or other brush) at least every six months.

He said that makes the life of the dryer at least twice as long!

How about that? Learn something new everyday!

I certainly didn't know dryer sheets would do that. So, I thought I'd share!

Greetings!

Gail Goshko and I have finalized our pilgrimage plans for next year. They look awesome! We are going to Prague & Poland (May 6-18, 2006), with an optional extension tour to St. Petersburg, Russia. I am sending you the full

22-page brochure as an attachment with this email. It is in a .pdf file so you will need Adobe Acrobat to open it. If you don't have this software program on your computer you can get it for free here:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.

Within the next couple of weeks Gail will be mailing all of our previous pilgrims a condensed 4-page brochure of this pilgrimage. The full version of the brochure will soon be available for viewing online at our Companions of the Cross web site (Upcoming Events section): http://www.companionscross.ca/upcoming.htm. So please have a look. We would love to have you join us on this journey of faith into the heart of Eastern Europe!

UNITED MOTHERS, FATHERS & FRIENDS' E-REFERENDUM UPDATE

Thanks to all of you who have voted in our www.VoteMarriage.ca e-Referendum! Before we launched this campaign, we knew that Albertans were still firmly behind this issue.  They are proving it!  Here are the first week's results.

When asked, "Should Alberta MLAs vote to define marriage as 'the union of one man and one woman' in Canada's constitution?" Albertans responded: 97% for & 3% against.

We look forward to hearing from many thousands more Albertans.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP BRING ABOUT THIS RESOLUTION

As you know, some politicians need to see a parade before they'll jump on board a bandwagon. The e-Referendum and the thousands of Alberta voices that it represents are the parade!  The final results of the E-Referendum will be presented to our Premier and all MLAs. Our government needs to be powerfully reminded that Albertans believe in traditional marriage and expect their government to take action to preserve this vital institution.

VOTE:  You can demonstrate your support by voting in the e-Referendum at:  www.VoteMarriage.ca

If you have already voted, please encourage your family and friends to do the same.

PASS-ALONG CARDS:  It is critical that we get word out about this initiative and have as many Albertans as possible engaged.

Consider ordering some of our free pass along cards to invite others to become involved.  Simply email us your name, address, and how many cards you would like.

Thanks again for joining with us as we work towards a constitutional amendment to enshrine marriage.
