Hi there,

I wanted to pass along an invite to a fundraiser that someone is putting on for the House of Hope and Healing.  In case you don't know, the House of Hope and Healing is a not-for-profit, charitable counselling agency.  Dan is on their board of directors.

The tickets are $25 each.  It will be a day of live entertainment, games-croquet, horseshoes, canoeing, historic tour, swimming in the St. Lawrence, silent auction and more.  Donations to the silent auction are welcome (call Lori or Willy).  This is intended to be an adult event.

It is Saturday, September 3 at 3414 Windmill Rd (Battle of the Windmill Historic Site) in Prescott.  It's from 3pm-9pm.  The $25/person includes a BBQ and refreshments.

Tickets may be purchased by calling Rita Hughes at 722-4847, Julie Vachon 722-3100, Dan McDade at 231-2147, Willy Perkins at 599-7627, Jo Anne Denis at 747-2753, Mary Anne O'Keefe at 256-1449, Lisa Lewis at 523-1623 or Lori Marchand at 819-685-0346 and at the Newport Restaurant ...lots of opportunity here for ticket purchases :-).

All proceeds to the House of Hope and Healing (donations are tax receiptable).

Please come if you can and bring some friends along as well.

Fr. John Vandenakker Hi!

On Sat. Aug. 6th our Halifax Companions' parishes held a 'Marian Day' out at St. Paul's parish in Herring Cove. About 125 people took in the outdoor Mass

and morning session, with another 65 staying on for the afternoon program.

The Mass was celebrated in the Our Lady of the Rosary Grotto. Fr. John

Fletcher was one of the featured speakers. Joining Fr. John were CC Frs. Tim

Devine, Rob Arsenault, Dennis Hayes, and Allan Macdonald. Photos of this event, as well as photos from a previous event held in the same grotto (at which Frs. Brian Christie and Ben St. Croix were present), can be viewed online at our PictureTrail album: http://www.PictureTrail.com/gid8220891.

Special thanks to Esther Lancaster and Kathy Conrad for sending along these photos!

Peace - Fr. John Vandenakker
