Have you noticed - at the bottom of our website, we ask you to pray daily for our Holy Father.  Well, as you know, Papa is in the hospital.

http://www.zenit.org/

I am taking this opportunity, to answer a question that I was asked a few weeks ago [thank you Linda Ganly].  "Where is Jesus, on your webpage?" Linda has provided the new .jpg and, webmaster Todd Winn has put the picture of Jesus looking at Pope John Paul II.

Please turn up your DAILY prayers for Our Holy Father!

Fr. Michael Winn and Todd Winn Prayer Request

For the servant of God, Edward Winn, the younger brother of Harvey Winn, who has lymphoma cancer of the brain, that the Divine Physician of souls and bodies in His mercy and compassion. as He healed the burning illness of Peter's mother-in-law, would heal and cure the passions of Edward's body and soul, forgive him of all his voluntary and involuntary transgressions, and quickly raise him from his bed of sickness. O God our Saviour, the Hope of all the ends of the earth, O Fountain of Life and Immortality, hear us and quickly have mercy!

Fr. John Vandenakker

Hi!

The theme of this year's Companions of the Cross winter mini-conference was: "The Word of God, Living and Active." Fr. Terry Donahue was the main speaker. He did an outstanding job explaining how and why God's word is trustworthy and reliable. He also showed how we as believers can more deeply appropriate the message it conveys. His talks (with an assist from Fr. Rick Jaworski  - our resident CC Scripture Scholar), were very informative and inspiring. The mini-conference was once again held at the Tudor Hall in Ottawa (Feb. 4th & 5th). Mary Lauzon, our Special Events Planner and CC Lay

Associate's Coordinator, and her whole team, did a wonderful job in setting things up and keeping things running very smoothly. Garth Pereira and the very anointed Fiat Praise Band led the music ministry. Fr. Mark Goring led the evening Youthfest program, kicking things off with his much promised 'backflip'. While not all the photos from the conference are in yet (Richard Donnelly is still processing his batch), you can view some that have been posted on our online PictureTrail photo album called: "Scripture Mini Conference" - by clicking here: http://www.PictureTrail.com/gid6541864

Peace - Fr. John Vandenakker

As you may know, our pastor Fr Charles, has christened, his associate with a new name ... well as Fr John has mentioned, here is the [and be very careful - the way that YOU say it] "Back-flipping Pastor"

Laura Kelly

Hi Jim, I have received the prayer and help request below.  If there is someone out there who feels they can help this family, please email me and I will forward details.  Thanks, Laura Kelly

Hello everyone,

I am writing you all to ask for your prayers and help.

A woman named Sheila was just given 2 months to live. (Her children attend the same school as mine do)  She survived breast cancer and now has Leukemia. She had a blood transfusion last month and it failed.

She has 4 daughters aged 10, 8, 6 and 4 and a husband Doug.

Please pray for Sheila and her family.

The other reason I am writing you all is to help locate a nanny for this family.  They live near Carlingwood mall and are looking for a live out Nanny.  They will need someone who has had children and can take care of the home, homework,  meals,  etc.  This person really needs to be exceptional as she will be entering a family suffering great trauma.  Please ask around and let me know if you know of anyone who could fill this position.

Please pray for God's mercy.  Love in Christ,  Gillian

Ted & Joanne Sabourin

Hi Jim, As per our conversation this morning. I belief that we (all Catholics) should be aware of the Pope's instruction. Redemptionis Sacramentum on certain matters to be observed or to be avoided regarding the Most Holy Eucharist.

Here is a quick link to download the whole letter in PDF format. It is a relatively short document (59 pages, I think) so it doesn't take that much time to read.

Hi Jim, I thought I'd send you a "success letter".  Here goes....

All praise to Jesus Christ, (and St. Jude rocks big time!).  I was recently on VM and noticed a job posted for an opening at Action Life Ottawa.  I have been working part-time at a local hospital and desperately needed another job to make ends meet (or at least come a bit closer together)!  My financial situation has been pretty bad for over two years and I was beginning to wonder if the Lord was hearing my prayers for another job.  I contacted Action Life and met with the Director.  Then I enlisted the help of the "Helper in most Desperate Cases"...St. Jude.  I got the job!  Now I get to run between two jobs...life is never dull with Jesus.  Thank you Sheila T. and VM (Jim) for posting this job.  And thank you God for alllowing the wonderful mystery of Communion of the Saints!

Victim Soul
What Pope John Paul II is teaching us through his suffering.

Thursday, February 10, 2005 12:01 a.m.

I have been thinking about John Paul II. Everyone has, I suppose. The pope yesterday missed Ash Wednesday services at the Vatican. This after a recent hospitalization.
Ash Wednesday reminds Catholics that we will leave this world some day, that from dust we came and to dust we will return. We are asked to renew our spiritual lives, to give up some small pleasure and give that sacrifice to God, at least until the spring, and Easter.

The pope's long physical decline is part of a long goodbye that carries within it meaning. I want to talk at some length about how some see that meaning, and about how I saw John Paul 18 months ago.

Looking for sponsorship

I am also looking for some money to sponsor pro-life/family delegates to the Convention in Montreal.  It will cost around $1,000.  Some delegates have called me expressing concern that they might not go unless they get funding.

The ball is in your court, folks.

This week Graham talks about Dante, Therese, and some EWTN programming.  Dan's experience is NOT a co-incidence, and Cindy sent along a site for squirrels.  Cyril's golf page has a prize for the contest - be sure to go visit all of our regulars!

Our brother Michael Baker, needs a drive! Many of you have heard him playing the guitar either at Anne & Frank Egan's or Mary & Brett Barlow's place.  As you may know , Michael is blind and is looking for a drive to St. Mary's for the next few weeks.  He is planning on going to the 5:00 p.m. mass for the next few weeks.  Can you help with a drive? Email us here michaelbaker@virtualministry.com

CONSIDER BOYCOTTING FAMOUS PLAYERS CINEMAS:

Well kids - how many letters and notices did you receive this week? All about this farce!  Everybody is on board.  Have you heard?  Click here and read the story from LifeSiteNews.com

See what is such a BUZZ!

what will you do?     what will you do?     what will you do?

This is what some of our readers have to say:

Cyril Dowling

Here's one for ya.  Although I spoke with the president's secretary, and Mr. Chase has been out of town and has not spoken with anyone on the issues at this point.  They also claim that this is not the position of Famous Players, but is simply paid advertising.  I agree with the boycott as Famous Players should stick to entertainment and get their foot out of the political arena.

Lynn du Quesnay

Hi, everyone.

I received this from my father-in-law. Terrible stuff.

I called both people tonight (Robb Chase and Salah Bachir) and left messages with my name and phone number, hoping that they will call me back. Mr. Chase's voice mailbox was full so I had to just leave my message in the general voice mailbox.

Please make time to call Famous Players. It doesn't take long and we need to make our voices heard. Let's take a stand and not support these theatres until their decision is reversed.

God bless.

Love, Lynn :)
