I got a call from Pauline just a little while ago and she let me know that they were able to bring Meagan home from CHEO - for good - on Friday morning. They have had a restful weekend together as a family at home. Needless to say, they are overjoyed! Meagan needs to have her catheter changed every 3 hours around the clock (and it sounds like both Mom and Dad are pros at it already) and her back is continuing to heal nicely. For a couple of weeks, they have to live as though they are still in the hospital, keeping visitors to a minimum (to reduce the risk of infection) until the wound is well healed. If anyone is inclined to drop off a meal or something I bet they wouldn't refuse it! :) Let me know if you need their address.

As you know, Pauline and Mike have been so appreciative of your positive thoughts and prayers over these last difficult months. They look forward to introducing their little angel to you! They are planning a little gathering for anyone who would like to meet her. I'll keep you posted about that.

Take care!!! Stephanie

Hi everyone,

Had a long talk with Pauline last night and Meagan is doing very well. They are getting into a good routine and settling into their home as a family. Meagan's wound has formed a scab and things are looking very good. It will likely be another week or so before they can take her out, but all in all, she is really on the mend! I'll keep you posted as to any other developments in this little cutie's life.

Hello everyone!

I just got a phone message from Pauline, and they were thrilled to be able to take Meagan home for a couple of hours over the weekend on a day pass. Also, the doctors are talking about possibly discharging Meagan (for good) by this weekend! Her wound is still healing and will be for a while, but Pauline and Mike will take over her care at home. I'll let you know when I hear anything further.

Hi all,

I went to see Pauline and Meagan today. She is such a beautiful little girl. Looks like they are going to get a day pass within the next week and they'll be able to bring her home for a day. That's progress! Also, Pauline, Mike, and Mike's Dad Gerry took Meagan for a walk in the stroller outside the hospital last evening - Meagan's first breath of 'outside' air since she was born four weeks ago! These are all good signs that she is well on the way to recovery and will hopefully be home for good within another month or so. Thanks for your continued prayers!!!

Hi everyone,

I talked with Pauline and Mike today and Meagan is continuing to
improve. The last of the IV tubes was removed today and Pauline was
able to take Meagan into the parent room with her (where Pauline had
been staying). Pauline is becoming quite a nurse. She changes Meagan's catheter every 3 hours by herself and is doing most of the day to day care. She even assisted the surgeon in removing the IV this morning. Pauline's Mom has been in town since June and has been a great help, packing lunches and suppers to take to the hospital every day. Mike said it looks like it will be about another 4 weeks or so before they can bring Meagan home. I'll be visiting the tomorrow, and will let you
know about that when I get back.

Stephanie
