birthday announcements - well last week was a very busy week and we announced a few but missed a few - right David Dumais? also Liliane Culumovic turned a milestone (50th) and she is Ok with it , so for all of you that are worried about me getting in trouble - NO PROBLEM, also by visiting last year's site - you see that i missed Cindy Walker, Jean Sarich, & Thomas Sullivan. Newcomer to VM - Bob O'Connell celebrated his latest birthday on the 12th.
* the week coming will have birthdays for Rob McColeman, Todd Winn, Mike Staples, Lauren Mellor, and both Liana & Bing Gallant.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
* St Mary's 11th Golf FUNDAY. Each spring we have the St. Mary's Open, and then a few months later the "Fall Classic". It is on Saturday Sept. 7th. Once again, Anne & Frank Egan have invited us to cool down in their pool afterwards for our barbecue {and I know that there are a few of you out there - wondering about eating in the pool - don't even bother sending me an email to ask about it}. Remember that if you are not a golfer - you are still invited to join us for the swim/barbecue/fellowship.

* On October 6th ... we are organizing a football game/dinner. For only $35 you can get a seat at the Edmonton Eskimo game at Lansdowne Park, and then dinner of salad, lasagna, apple pie/ice cream. Your ticket includes a chance to carry home a colour TV. Once again our St. Mary's social events will offer a couple of seminarians a chance to join us for free.
* speaking of the Companions - the dinner was an excellent evening, congratulations to all of the team that made it such a success, and once again Fr John has the photos on:

Hi Jim. I did a little checking, and it seems that the little advice thing about coughing to treat a heart attack is a hoax.
Here are some sites that I found:

http://www.scu.edu/wellness/newsletter/fall2000.html (the left text column)
http://www.kahl.net/action/cpr.html
http://hoaxinfo.com/coughcpr.htm
http://www.truthminers.com/truth/coughing.htm

It seems to be based on some truth, but is not recommended. ... andy

Hello Graham,
I have just returned from Nova Scotia from a very sad journey. My brother George passed away very suddenly on August 3rd. I have just returned on Monday August 19th. God Bless, Noelle
