Sacred Heart of Jesus

* Happy Birthday to Stefanie Dawn Backs - 1993 9:32 am

*

* You will find the information about golf day in this weekend's bulletin. Remember that this fun event isnt open only to golfers.
You golfers are allowed to bring your date to the pool party afterwards. Also open to other parishioners that want to join us ... as long as they pre-register with Anne Egan or myself before hand - so that we can ensure the caterer has the right numbers.
June 15th - golf starts at 1:00 then barbecue and swimming at the Egan's. Once again we will be golfing at Riverbend.

Hey Ted & Teresa - even though many of our regulars wont be joining us ... we do wish you all the best on your wedding day. Teresa, we pray that you will be healed and fully recovered in time.

Subject: Update on Bas {5th}

A quick note to let you folks know Bas is coming along fine - still weak and in a pain but that is par for the course and would be happier if he could get some sleep at night. But remember he is in a hospital! I'll be keeping in touch; I'm going out to see him this aft.

Please pass on to everyone heartfelt and grateful thanks from Bas & I for all the many, many prayers. We can both feel them! According to the doctor, who stopped in to see him around 8 PM last night, the prostectomony (think that's spelt right!) went well and the nurse
says he is doing very well. However, when Bas asked for a pepsi was told no, no!! Too soon!! Before his operation, the nurse had expressed surprise that he
got his date for the operation so quickly. But we all know who was in charge of that, right? Bas called me a few minutes ago and he will probably be up in a chair shortly and probably walking in a matter of hours. I will pass on more info later.

bas - i told you before that God is a Coke drinker and if you would have asked the doctor for a Coke our Heavenly Father would have allowed it!

Vatican Denies Report That John Paul II Will Resign in August

VATICAN CITY, JUNE 4, 2002 (Zenit.org).- The Vatican denied that John Paul II intends to resign this August, on the occasion of his visit to Poland.

Reports of a resignation were published Monday by the Czech weekly newspaper Tyden, citing Church sources in Poland.

But in statements to the press, Joaquín Navarro-Valls, Vatican spokesman, said: "At present, [the Pope] has a full program for the next six months, which includes canonization ceremonies and different 'ad limina' visits" of national episcopates.

Navarro-Valls added that there are also papal appointments scheduled for 2003.

The Czech newspaper said that if he resigned, the Pope would retire to a monastery near Krakow.
